Synthetes” - Mr Beatnick (from Jamie xx’s Essential Mix)

Fabulous.

Spirits”, Jamie Woon

Zoë Keating and Imogen Heap are the first musicians I ever saw use looping at a live show. At the same live show, no less. Frankly, most performers have the chops to make it work, but they do. So, too, does Jamie Woon.

And while we’re at it, check out this sy.ic remix of “Spirits”; lovely.

Rolling in the Deep” - Adele

Can she sing or what?

I really enjoy the updated Motown/Northern soul style of Adele’s music. Modern production filtered by a little nostalgia.

Hide U (Drum & Bass Mix)” - Kosheen

Throw the music library on shuffle and it’ll surface music you love but haven’t heard in years. Remember this? Oh man. Love it.

You Lost Me” - Christina Aguilera

This is the sort of song I’d expect from someone a little less mainstream, maybe, but can she sell it, or what? It’s an interesting combination of current pop and older-school r&b and works well. The girl can sing and I like when she plays with range without resorting to vocal acrobatics.

Upular” from Pogo. Joyous.

Every daaaaaay a star is booorrrnnn (“A Star is Born [Jay-Z + J. Cole]”) (via Bryce)

Foot tappin’, melodic, a great hook…I’m in.

A fan video for Grizzly Bear’s “Two Weeks”.

Got this one from Tom, who, like me, can’t really get down with Grizzly Bear apart from their KEXP-session version of “Knife” (I also got that from Tom — are you sensing a pattern, too?). But this? This is lovely and wonderful.

The Beach Boys, “God Only Knows

Just because.
